Until now Acrylic shells have been made by heating and bending the shells leaving them at times structurally fragile due to the shells naturally wanting to straighten out. Kirchhoff shells however are made using a unique method to create the perfect shell. The acrylic is melted down in a mould and then rotated at high speed. The melted down acrylic is poured in to these spinning moulds. As the acrylic is spun in the moulds it sets and a perfectly round drum shell is formed. Cutting a double 45 degree bearing edge means the drums produce a fat and full sound, sitting very well in a rock/pop context. Boasting extreme bass tones and a very present top end, these shells are exceptionally versatile and respond wonderfully to head changes. Even with the single ply factory fit heads, you can get a great sound out of these drums. Acrylic Sparkle
These finishes are truly amazing. Sparkle flakes are dropped into the acrylic whilst being spun in the moulds so the sparkle is within the Acrylic.
