LDC NewsArtist Update - December 2009Hello to everyone.... It's been a couple of months since I last wrote of what we’ve been doing at LDC and boy what a couple of months! Looking back its hard to imagine that we’ve managed to cram it all but in true LDC fashion we have. I made a very tough decision in October when I decided it was time to call it a day with Skunk Anansie. This was not an easy decision but one which was for the best given how busy things were at LDC. With hindsight I know it was the right decision but I still miss being a part of something I poured so much effort in to. Mark Richardson remains one of our key clients and continues to store his equipment with us and has us take care of all his requirements. The only difference from previous years is that I will no longer be his touring drum tech. Check out the new kit we put together for the tour...
In store we have been working on some very cool projects including this custom job we were asked to care of for 30 Seconds to Mars. We wrapped the shells in this custom wrap from ‘Rocket Wraps’ which just looked amazing. Check it out...
We were in Birmingham at the NEC Nov 6-8th at this year’s 'Music Live' festival. We teamed up with the guys from Korg UK and had some truly amazing deals on Paiste cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and Mapex drums (all distributed in the UK by Korg UK). We hosted two exclusive workshops with Neal Wilkinson and Jerry Brown. I myself hosted a 'Drum Workshop' on Friday 6th talking through how to get the best out of your drums with tuning and set up advise.
This year's London Jazz Festival has kept us busy, we’ve had kits out on hire with Jack DeJohnette and Jojo Mayer amongst others along with LDC storage clients Ralph Salmins and Gary Husband having us take care of their kits at the festival. Ralph performed with the 'Jazz All Stars' and Gary with his own project 'Drive' - opening for Marcus Miller featuring Ronald Bruner Jnr. on drums. Both these performances were at the Barbican theatre in central London.
We have supplied equipment for the following drummers, percussionists and bands in the past couple of months... Tony Royster Jnr. (Jay-Z), Brett Baker (Jay-Z), Tico Torres (Bon Jovi), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Dominic Howard (Muse), Steve xxx (Placebo), The Butterfly Effect, Gyroscope, Baaba Maal, Every Time I Die, Bowling For Soup, Greg Grainger (Acoustic Alchemy), Keith Hall (Curtis Stigers), Ben Johnston (Biffy Clyro), Wednesday 13, Karnivool, Magnum, Guy Richman (Wicked – the Musical), Anti-Flag, Sweethead, Morrissey, Modest Mouse, Will Fry (Duffy), Nasheet Waits, Steve Pilgrim (Paul Weller), Chris ‘Daddy’ Dave (Maxwell), Rod Morgenstein, Mark Schulman (Pink), Pete Lewinson (Sade), Bobby Brown and more! Thanks you to everyone who has been in store and we look forward to seeing you in the run up to Christmas. Simon. |
