Artist Update July 2009Skunk Anansie
Looking back over the past few months I would have to say that this has been the biggest mix of work at LDC since we started. There's been loads of live shows including a couple of personal highlights... the reformed Skunk Anansie project has been a pleasure to be involved in, there have been recording sessions, video shoots and a couple of live shows as well. Be sure to catch the band on the full production tour in November of this year. I'll be looking after Mark's drums on that tour and looking forward to it a lot. Roy MayorgaThe other live highlight would have to be getting to work with LDC client Roy Mayorga and Amebix.
Roy was in town for literally the one show and I jumped at the chance to help him out that night. These guys are touring on and off through until September so if classic Punk Rock is your thing, check them out.
LDC has continued to look after the logistics and set up of some of the UK's best drummers, Neal Wilkinson, Ian Thomas and Ralph Salmins have been very busy on a number of different projects. Neal has been working continuously with James Morrison after landing the gig towards the end of last year. Other recording sessions have included Liam Bradley, Pete Lewinson and Geoff Dugmore.
Drummer LiveI was employed as stage manager for the Drummer Live performances at this year's LIMS show. LDC supplied the drums for Cora Coleman-Dunham, Troy Miller and Sola Akinbola. Cora's kit is currently available for sale in our Retail store right now! The weekend was packed with great drumming performances from Steve Smith, Derrick McKenzie, Nicko McBrain, Nick DiVirgilio and those mentioned above. It was a busy few days but all in all a successful one and one which was a pleasure to be involved in.
Paul WellerI am now working on Paul Weller's current summer shows which include Benicassim festival as well as shows in Belgium and Athens amongst others. Drummer Steve Pilgrim is a very unique player who is great to watch. His style is very loose but the sound and feel from the Ludwig drums we use is top draw. LDC Hire and Artist SupportLDC hire and artist support programmes have been at their busiest ever. The combination of Download 2009, Isle of Wight Festival, Meltdown, Hyde Park calling, other smaller festivals along with lots of touring clients saw LDC kits played by Meshuggah, Billy Talent, Lacuna Coil, Sevendust, Reamonn, The Living End, Butterfly Effect, Roots, Stevie Wonder, Lady Gaga, Biffy Clyro, Solange Knowles, Marya Roxx, Baaba Maal, Placebo, The Flaming Lips, Lynyrd Skynrd and many more as well. In addition we've supplied kits for Teddy Campbell (George Benson), Jojo Mayer (Drumfest 2009), Jack DeJohnette and Steve Smith. As you can imagine this has kept us very busy!! As we continue through the summer all things look set to continue as they are with many more kits going out of LDC, many more live dates to work on, many more studio sessions and above all else one of the best drum shops you can come in! See you soon |
