Artist Update Winter 2007What a few months it has been! We’ve been absolutely flat out with such a mix its just crazy. We’ve been in and out of London’s various studios pretty much three or four days of every week with our usual mix of clients. This has meant setting up a real mix of sets from Vintage Ludwig and Gretsch kits to VLT DW kits. Its been a pleasure to be working with Geoff Dugmore quite a bit of late along with LDC ‘regulars’ like Ian Thomas and Neal Wilkinson. I was with Neal at the Van Morrison show at the Royal Albert hall which was a really nice gig to be involved in.
Gig wise its been pretty much a poptastic period all the way! We’ve been heavily involved in getting the Spice Girls drum and percussion rigs up and ready for what looks to be a huge tour. Tomas Dyani is on percussion whilst Vinnie Lammi is playing kit. I was asked by the guys at Gibraltar to come up with a crazy rack design and I did just that!
The rack is made up of a mix of individual curved bars and features the new all chrome clamps from Gibraltar which look amazing much better than the customary black ones. Outside the world of pop Simon has been touring with Keane as well as working on the recent Foo Fighters UK tour. LDC supplied the Gretsch kit for the B-Stage set as well as a set of vibes and a timpani for the main stage. We are delighted to have Roy Mayorga as a new storage client here at LDC. Like many US based artists Roy chose LDC as the home for his European rig. Roy joins the likes of Chad Smith, Giovanni Hidalgo and Taylor Hawkins amongst others as our list of international clients continues to grow.
Our trade supplies services have been used by the managers, techs and drummers of the Stereophonics, Squeeze, McFly, Motorhead, Wet Wet Wet, Roisin Murphy, FFAF, Faithless, Archive, Girls Aloud, Will Young, The Cure and Primal Scream as well as loads more bands and drummers that would take forever to list!! |
